KIRIBAKO

Kiribako — Bitterling & Small-Fish Fishing Log (iOS)

Keep each small-fish catch like a specimen,
while protecting your "secret fishing spots."

A fishing-log app specialized for Japanese freshwater small-fish fishing — bitterling, topmouth gudgeon, carp, crucian carp and more. Keep the delicate beauty of small fish, your devotion to traditional Japanese rods and handmade rigs, and your memories of the waterside — preserving each catch with care, just like placing a specimen in a paulownia box.

Key Features

Designed to keep fishing spots private

All location data is stored on your device only. Nothing is ever sent to the cloud or viewed by us. EXIF and GPS data are automatically stripped from images you share.

Species estimation (on-device AI)

On-device AI identifies bitterling species and 8 species in total right after you shoot, and suggests candidates. All estimation happens entirely inside your iPhone, and your photos are never sent anywhere.

Length measurement using a coin as reference (approximate)

Shoot a 1-yen coin (or a supported overseas coin) together with the fish, and the app automatically estimates the fork length. There is some margin of error depending on the shooting angle and other factors, but you can still record an approximate size in mm even without a measuring tape.

Share discreetly with specimen cards

Share your catch cards to Instagram, X, Messages and more. Only safe cards — with location and photographer info automatically removed — are exported.

No ads, and we never sell your data

We include no ad SDKs and no tracking SDKs whatsoever, and we never sell your data to third parties. No account registration is required.

How KIRIBAKO is different

There are many apps for recording catches. Among them, while most apps move toward "sharing with everyone," KIRIBAKO was designed with "protecting you and your fishing spots" as the top priority.

Pricing

First, try all features free for 14 days.
There is no automatic charge during the trial. Choose a plan only if you decide to continue.

Why is it paid? KIRIBAKO shows no ads at all, and we never collect your data or sell it to third parties. Because of that, the only resource that keeps our operation and development going is the app price alone. Many "free" apps out there earn revenue through ads or by leveraging your data. KIRIBAKO chose not to take that path, prioritizing standing on the side of the people who use it. That is exactly why — the trial is free for 14 days, viewing your records is always free, and "Kura" is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription. The money you pay is used with care, so that a small individual team can keep developing honestly without relying on ads.

Roadmap

Seasonal templates (Takumi)

We will deliver seasonal specimen-card templates over time. Ongoing value for those who keep subscribing.

Continuous improvement of the species-estimation AI

By expanding the training data, we keep improving identification accuracy and broadening the range of supported species. Your photo contributions help grow the AI.

Further improvements to measurement accuracy

LiDAR coin-free measurement (Takumi · iPhone Pro models) is already available. Going forward, we aim for even easier and more stable measurement through automatic keypoint placement, multi-frame averaging, and more.

Monthly outing reports (Takumi · under consideration)

We are considering a monthly report just for you, to look back on a month's outings all at once.

iCloud backup (under consideration)

We are considering a backup that lets you carry your records over even when changing devices. Your data will continue to be kept solely under your control.

Android version (under consideration)

While prioritizing stable operation of the iOS version, we are considering Android support.
