KIRIBAKO Privacy Policy
Hiroyuki Hirata (the "Operator") hereby establishes this Privacy Policy (the "Policy") regarding the handling of personal information of users of the iOS application "KIRIBAKO" (the "App") provided by the Operator.
This Policy applies to all situations in which users of the App use the App.
1. Operator Information
- Operator: Hiroyuki Hirata
- Contact: [email protected]
- App Name: KIRIBAKO
2. Information Collected
The App stores the following information primarily on the user's device to improve user convenience (only the first-launch date used for free-trial management is also stored in the user's own iCloud; see §2.4 / §4.1). No data is transmitted to the Operator's servers.
2.1 Information Directly Entered by the User
| Information | Method of Collection |
|---|---|
| Catch photos | Camera capture or selection from photo library |
| Fish species name | User input or selection from suggestions |
| Size (mm) | User input or automatic measurement |
| Fishing date and time | User input or automatic retrieval from photo EXIF |
| Fishing spot name (optional) | User input |
| Bait/gear (optional) | User input |
| Notes (optional) | User input |
2.2 Information Collected Optionally (Only with Explicit Consent)
| Information | Method of Collection | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Capture location (latitude/longitude) | Automatic retrieval from photo EXIF (only if user has opted in) | Disabled |
The capture location is collected and stored only when the user has explicitly enabled "Save location" in the settings screen. By default, location is not collected.
2.3 Information Collected Automatically
The App does not collect any user identification information or usage statistics (analytics) that would be transmitted to external servers.
2.4 Information Related to In-App Purchases
The App offers some features via in-app purchases (one-time purchase / subscription). Purchases and the verification of purchase status are handled through Apple's App Store (StoreKit); the Operator does not collect or retain any personally identifiable payment information such as credit card details. For managing the free trial period, the App stores only the first-launch date (a date value) in the user's own iCloud (see §4.1). Photos, location, and catch data are never passed to the purchase process.
3. Purpose of Use
The collected information is used only for the following purposes.
- Recording, viewing, and editing of catches
- Aggregated display on statistics and review screens
- Pin display on map screen (only for catches with saved location)
- Generation of share images for the sharing feature
4. Storage of Information
4.1 Storage Location
All information is stored only on the user's device, with one exception noted below. No data is transmitted to any third-party server, including those of the Operator.
Specifically:
- Catch data and photos are saved in the app's dedicated area on the device and in the OS photo library
- The database (SQLite) exists only in the local area of the device
- Backups are only those performed by the user via iCloud / iTunes (the Operator is not involved)
- The first-launch date (a date value only), used for free-trial management, is stored on the device and in the user's own iCloud (iCloud Key-Value Store). This is the user's own iCloud and cannot be viewed by the Operator or any third party. No photos, location, or catch data are stored there
4.2 Retention Period
Data is retained unless the user performs a delete operation within the App. Users can delete individual catches at any time, and all data is deleted when the App is uninstalled.
5. Provision to Third Parties
The Operator will not provide the collected information to third parties without the user's consent.
However, information may be provided in the following cases.
- When required by law (court orders, search warrants, etc.)
- When necessary to protect the life or body of a person and obtaining the user's consent is difficult
6. Handling of Information in the Sharing Feature
When a user shares a catch image to another app (LINE / Instagram / Facebook, etc.) using the App's sharing feature:
- Images shared: Only processed images with EXIF information (capture time, location, device model, etc.) removed are shared
- Copy to clipboard: When sharing, the App automatically copies the catch's fish species name, size, date, notes, and hashtags to the user's device clipboard. This is intended for the user to paste into the posting field of the destination app
- The handling of information by destination apps (such as Instagram) is subject to the privacy policies of those apps
7. Third-Party Services Used
The App uses the following third-party services. These services communicate only to the extent necessary for displaying maps and do not transmit information that identifies individual users of the App.
| Service | Purpose | Communication Content |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Maps | Map tile display | Acquisition of the currently displayed map area |
| Apple App Store (StoreKit) | In-app purchase, restore, and purchase-status verification | Purchase processing via Apple's billing system (the Operator retains no personally identifiable information) |
| Cloudflare Pages (kiribako.app) | Delivery of free-trial offer codes | Read-only (GET) retrieval by the App; no personal data is sent |
| Anthropic Claude API (when support inquiries are received) | Classification of support emails and draft response generation | Body of support emails received from users |
Communication with these services occurs only on the map screen, catch detail screen, or purchase screen. No communication occurs on other screens of the App. In-app purchases are processed through Apple's system without the Operator's servers being involved. Communication with the Anthropic Claude API occurs only on the Operator's system in response to emails received at the support address ([email protected], etc.); the App itself never communicates with this service.
8. User Rights
Users can manage their data at any time through the following operations within the App.
- View: Users can view their data at any time on the home screen and detail screen
- Edit: Users can edit each field on the detail screen
- Delete (individual): Users can delete individual catches from the "Delete this catch" button on the detail screen (with confirmation dialog)
- Delete (all): Uninstalling the App deletes all data
For inquiries regarding data, please contact [email protected].
9. Security Measures
The Operator implements the following measures to safely manage user information.
- All data is stored on the device and not transmitted to external servers
- Share images are generated through a single function that always removes EXIF / GPS
- Write permission to the photo library is requested only as "writeOnly" (add only) permission, and only when the user permits additional saving at the time of capture
- The App never deletes, edits, or overwrites existing assets in the photo library
10. Use by Children Under 13
The App is not specifically targeted at any age group, but if children under 13 use the App, please do so with parental consent. The App does not intentionally collect personally identifiable information from children.
11. Applicable Laws
This Policy is governed by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan (APPI). When users use the App outside of Japan, they shall also comply with the laws of the relevant country, and this Policy applies to the extent that it does not violate the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or other relevant laws.
12. Revisions
The Operator may revise this Policy as necessary. The revised Policy takes effect from the time it is posted in the App or on a website designated by the Operator. Important changes will be notified within the App or by email (if a contact has been registered).
13. Contact
For inquiries regarding this Policy or requests regarding the handling of data, please contact:
- Email: [email protected]
- Operator: Hiroyuki Hirata
13.1 AI Processing of Support Emails
For operational efficiency, the Operator may send the content of emails received at the support address ([email protected], etc.) to Anthropic's Claude API for classification and draft response generation.
- AI processing is limited to draft generation only; all responses are reviewed and sent manually by the Operator
- No automatic replies are sent
- Information sent to AI is limited to the content the user includes in the email body
- If you do not wish your email to be processed by AI, please indicate this at the beginning of your email (e.g., "No AI processing"). In such cases, the Operator will respond directly without using AI
- Please refer to Anthropic's privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy
